Overview:
If you are using ClearCase are your source control repository you may want to install the Eclipse ClearCase plug-in into CCS to enable you to perform ClearCase operations from within the CCS environment. More information on the ClearCase plug-in is avialable at this link on IBMs website.
ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) installation
Please see below for information on how to install CCRC plugin in CCSv4
Dependencies:
- CCSv4.x. CCSv4.0 and later are based on the Eclipse open source software framework. The instructions below are for installing the plug-in for Eclipse 3.2 which is what CCSv4.0 is based on. If you are using a newer version of Eclipse the link in the overview section provides links to the plug-ins for newer versions of Eclipse.
- You must have ClearCase client software installed on your computer.
Installation Procedure:
1. Close CCS
We will be copying some files into the installation
2. Obtain the ClearCase Plug-in
Download a zip file from this link to your computer.
3. Copy the files into your CCSv4 installation
Open up the zip file and copy the features and plugins folders into the CCSv4\eclipse folder. Note that the instructions on the IBM website talk about setting up a special Eclipse extension point, this is basically a way to keep these files separate from your CCS installation and have CCS load them from another location. You can do that if you want following the instructions on IBMs website but it is easier just to copy the files into your installation.
4. Restart CCS
Restart CCS so the new plug-ins load and you should now see ClearCase menu on the menu bar. You can use this to connect to your ClearClase server.
CCRC Installation
Install GEF plugins first
- First install GEF component from Eclipse.org as CCRC requires it
Go to Help->Software Updates->Find and Install. (select second option).
- Add “New Remote Site” call it something like Eclipse update and enter http://download.eclipse.org/callisto/releases/ url. Follow the wizard, after it connects it should list a bunch of updates. (Select your preferred mirror site)
- Select GEF component and continue with wizard to install it. (org.eclipse.gef_3.2.2.v20070208) At the end Eclipse should ask you to restart
Install CCRC plugins
- Install CCRC, add a second “New Remote Site” and set URL to http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/clearcase/ccrc/701/update/ , follow through with the wizard and select CCRC plugin. You will need to restart CCS just like in previous state.
Once CCRC plugin is installed and you have restarted CCS, then you may open ClearCase perspective and configure CCRC to access ClearCase.
